Tall Tales of Old Florida: Hear Legends of Florida Heroes, Monsters and Mysteries

Explore Tampa’s 19th century living history museum by night. Along the way, meet storytellers who will spin wild yarns about a few of Florida’s unexplained oddities! A little scary, a little funny and always family friendly, the Tall Tales of Old Florida tour is a Florida history adventure by lantern light!

 

Activities:

Before and after your tour, enjoy Victorian games and activities among the hauntingly beautiful season décor. As night falls, flickering lanterns, warm hearth fires, glowing pumpkins, and hauntingly charming Halloween displays create a magical Victorian atmosphere.

  • Discover the late 19th century’s fascination with the strange, mysterious, and unknown
  • Enjoy a live blacksmith demonstration
  • Try your hand at Bowling with Scarecrows
  • Test your aim at the Black Cat Ring Toss
  • Taste a sweet treat at the Candy Pumpkin Shoot
  • Watch the classic silent film A Trip to the Moon (1902)
  • Have your fortune told and discover how the late-19th-century Americans were captivated by fortune-telling, and other beliefs in the supernatural
  • Uncover the hidden symbolism found in a ate-19th-century cemetery
  • Explore how popular novels such as Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and other tales of scientific discovery and adventure captured the public imagination

Gates Open at 6:45pm. Tours start every 10 minutes, and each tour is approximately 60 minutes long.

Tour length: 60 minutes

Age: Not recommended for children under 6 years old

General Pricing: $16 per person. All tickets include a festive snack and drink. Advance ticket purchase required – this is a popular event with limited tickets.

Parking:  $12.00 per car

Shopping: There are lots of unique items to be found at the General Store! The store features nostalgic and reproduction items, historical toys and games, books, candy, and other unique gifts. The General Store accepts cash, debit, and credit cards. Proceeds from sales in the General Store help support Cracker Country’s field trip programs.
